●Dance With Me - Orleans | The Midnight Special
オーリアンズは1972年、ジョン・ホールを中心にニューヨーク州ウッドストックで結成されたルーツ・ロック・グループ70年代にダンス・ウィズ・ミー」「スティル・ザ・ワン」などのヒットがある。
1972年～1983年に放送された米・音楽番組『The Midnight Special』のYouTubeチャンネルにて、オーリアンズやフレディ・フェンダー、ハーブ・アルパートなど、いずれも1975年に放送されたパフォーマンス動画が公開されています。
■Herb Alpert
●Carmine - Herb Alpert | The Midnight Special
ハーブ・アルパートは1935年生まれのトランペット奏者で、ティファナ・ブラスのリーダー。プロデューサー、歌手としても活動、そして1962年ジェリー・モスとともにA&Mレコーズを設立。カーペンターズに代表されるソフトなサウンドがレーベル・カラーとして当時人気を博し、今もその人気は根強い。
●Coney Island - Herb Alpert | The Midnight Special
「Coney Island」はこの年（1975年）にリリースされたアルバムのタイトル・トラックでシングルカットもされた。もう一つの動画の「Carmine」も同作収録。

●My Eyes Adored You - Frankie Valli | The Midnight Special
フランキー・ヴァリは1934年生まれ、現在91歳のイタリア系米国人シンガー。フォー・シーズンズのリード・ヴォーカルとして多数のヒットを飛ばしNo.1曲も多数。その後ソロへ転身、「My Eyes Adored You」は1974年にリリースしたシングルで、この曲も全米No.1に。
●Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Frankie Valli | The Midnight Special
邦題「君の瞳に恋してる」、これぞフランキー・ヴァリの代表曲、1967年のヒット。1981年にボーイズ・タウン・ギャングがディスコ・アレンジで大ヒットさせたのを筆頭に数多くのカヴァーを生み、現在もCMソングや高校野球の応援でこのメロディを耳にする機会は多い。
●Before The Next Teardrop Falls - Freddy Fender | The Midnight Special
フレディ・フェンダーはテキサス生まれ、メキシコ系米国人のテハーノ・シンガー。1950年代から活動、1974年「涙のしずく」が大ヒット。ダグ・サーム、フラコ・ヒメネス、オーギー・マイヤーズとテックスメックス・スーパーグループ、テキサス・トーネイドスを結成。2006年没。
●Cuddle Up - Captain & Tennille | The Midnight Special
キャプテン&テニールは1972年結成、ダリル・ドラゴンとトニ・テニールによる夫妻デュオ。「愛ある限り」「愛の証し」のNo.1ヒットがある。作品を残したのは主に70年代だが、2007年に久々の『The Secret of Christmas』をリリース。しかし2014年に二人は離婚、その後2019年にドラゴンは他界。
●Poetry Man - Phoebe Snow | The Midnight Special
フィービ・スノウ（1950年ー2011年）はこの動画の「ポエトリー・マン」や、「ハーポのブルース」のヒットで知られる米国人シンガー・ソングライター。デビュー・アルバム『サンフランシスコ・ベイ・ブルース』（原題『 Phoebe Snow』）は本国ではミリオン・ヒットとなった。
●Bloody Well Right - Supertramp | The Midnight Special June 20, 1975
スーパートランプは1970年デビューのプログレ〜ポップ・バンド。1979年発表『ブレックファスト・イン・アメリカ』が全米1位の大ヒットを記録。1988年に解散するもののその後再結成、さらに再々結成でのツアーも人気で、2005年発表のベスト・アルバムが全英でチャートインするほどの根強い人気も。
●How Long - Ace | The Midnight Special
エースは1970年代に活動、この動画の「How Long」が全米3位という最大のヒットを記録したロック／ポップ〜パブ・ロック・バンド。ヴォーカル／キーボードのポール・キャラックは、80年代に入りマイク＆ザ・メカニックスの一員として活動、そちらでも全米1位「The Living Years」のヒットを放った。
●Train - Leo Sayer | The Midnight Special
レオ・セイヤーは1948年生まれの英国人シンガー・ソングライター。1976年の『Endless Flight』が全米10位を記録したほか、本国では80年代の初めまで安定したセールスを誇った。現在に至るまでコンスタントに作品をリリース、最新作は昨年の『1992』。現在はオーストラリア在住。
●Another Night - The Hollies | The Midnight Special
ホリーズは英国は1960年代マンチェスターから出発したブリティッシュ・インヴェイジョンの代表的バンドの一つ。CSN&Yのグラハム・ナッシュが在籍したのは68年までで、その脱退後もバンドは解散することなく現在も継続。動画の「Another Night」は1975年リリースのアルバム・タイトル曲。
●Children And All That Jazz - Joan Baez & Hampton Hawes | The Midnight Special
この曲はジョーン・バエズ『Diamonds & Rust』に収録された自作曲（A&M：1976年）。同作は基本的にカヴァー集として構成、自作曲は全11曲のうちこの曲含め3曲のみ。ハンプトン・ホーズはアフリカ系アメリカ人ジャズ・ピアニスト。主に1950年代に活躍、軍属時代には日本滞在経験も。1977年没。
