クイーンのジュークボックス・ミュージカル『We Will Rock You』が北米で再上演

クイーンのヒット曲で構成され、2002年にロンドンでデビューしたロック・ミュージカル『We Will Rock You（ウィ・ウィル・ロック・ユー）』が、今年の9月3日から北米で再上演されることになりました。

このミュージカルは、2002年にロンドンのウェスト・エンドにあるドミニオン劇場で初上演されて以来、19か国で1,600万人以上の観客を動員しました。

今回は、カナダの Annerin Theatricals が制作を担当し、「We Are the Champions」「Radio Gaga」「I Want to Break Free」「Killer Queen」「Under Pressure」「Bohemian Rhapsody」など、クイーンのヒット曲が24曲以上盛り込まれる予定。

Annerin Theatricals の社長ジェフ・パリーは、次のように語っています。

「制作を担当することになり光栄です。しかも（映画の大ヒットの後で）タイミング的にもラッキーです。クイーンのミュージカルは、典型的なブロードウェイの観客だけでなく誰にでも楽しめる作品なので、劇場や小規模なアリーナでも上演が可能で、クイーンの音楽を楽しみたい観客に合うように制作しています」と語っています。

キャスティングはまだ決定しておらず、現時点では9月3日から来年の2月7日まで公演日程が発表されていますが、数週間以内に追加公演の日程もウェブサイトで発表される模様です。
