1978年9月22日に発売された4枚目のアルバム『Road to Ruin』の40周年を記念して、3枚組CDとLP1枚が入ったボックスセット『Road to Ruin 40th Anniversary Edition』が、記念日前日の9月21日に発売されます。

また、オリジナル・アルバムを新たにリマスターしたヴァージョンもCDで発売され、どちらもストリーミング・サービスが可能となります。

現在「I Wanna Be Sedated」の未発表 Take 2（ラフミックス）が試聴可能となっています。

同作は、創立メンバーのトミー・ラモーンが、バンドのプロデューサーと作曲に専念するため1978年に脱退し、後任となったドラマーのマーキー・ラモーンが初めて参加したアルバムです。

今回のデラックス・エディションには、アルバムに収録された全曲のラフミックスと、1979年に行われたニューヨーク公演の未発表ライヴ音源も収録。30センチ四方のハードカバー本のパッケージで、シリアル番号付き7500セットが全世界で限定販売されます。

また、このボックスセットには、レアな写真、使われなかった別のアルバム・カヴァーなどのアートワークの他、元ニューヨーク・ロッカーのライターだったロイ・トラッキンとアルバム・カヴァーを手掛けたジョン・ホルストルムによるエッセイ、プロデューサーのエド・ステイシアムがアルバム制作の詳細を綴ったエッセイを掲載したブックレットも入っています。

CD1には、『Road to Ruin』のオリジナル・ステレオ・ミックスのリマスター・ヴァージョンと、ステイシアムによる新しい「2018年版 40th Anniversary Road Revisite」のミックスを収録。

CD2には、アルバム全収録曲のラフミックスと、オリジナルとは全く違う2曲の別テイク、2曲の未発表アウトテイクを含む20曲以上の未発表音源を収録。

CD3には、1979年の大晦日に行われたニューヨーク公演の未発表音源がそのまま収録されています。
