ジョニ・ミッチェルのミュージック・キャリアを俯瞰する壮大なるプロジェクト“アーカイヴ・シリーズ”この秋スタート！

伝説のシンガー／ソングライター、ジョニ・ミッチェル（76歳）がアーカイヴ・シリーズをリリースすることになり、その第1弾『Joni Mitchell Archives Vol. 1 : The Early Years（1963-1967）』が10月30日に発売されます。

ボックスセットの5枚組CDには、1963年から1967年に収録した6時間にも及ぶホーム・レコーディングやライヴ音源、ラジオ・レコーディングが年代順に収められ、これまでミッチェルのヴォーカルでリリースされなかった29曲のオリジナル曲が含まれます。

また、ボックスセットには40ページのブックレットが付き、ミッチェルのパーソナル・コレクションから提供された未公開写真や、映画監督キャメロン・クロウとミッチェルの会話をフィーチャーした新たなライナーノーツが掲載されています。

また輸入盤のみで、ディスク4後半以降に収録されているカンタベリーハウスでのライヴ3セットが3枚組LPで『Live at Canterbury House – 1967』として、またディスク1前半部分が『Early Joni – 1963』としてLPでも発売されます。

なお、このボックスセット・シリーズは数年にわたってリリースされる予定で、今後のシリーズでもキャメロン・クロウがライナーノーツを執筆するそうです。

この作品から、当時19歳だったミッチェルが、CFQC AMラジオのためにレコーディングした「House of the Rising Sun」の音源が公開されています。

時代・地域を超えて多くの音楽リスナー、ミュージシャンから変わらぬ共感と尊敬を集めるシンガー・ソング・ライター、ジョニ・ミッチェルが初めて自らの倉庫のドアを開けた。

9月10日米国ライノ・レコードはジョニの協力のもと発見された国宝級の音源を、丹念に調査、レストアし数年かけて “アーカイヴ・シリーズ” として発表することを明らかにした。

その第一弾は『アーカイヴスVol. 1〜アーリー・イヤーズ（1963-1967）』で1968年ジョニがリプリーズ・レコードからデビューする以前の貴重な音源が収録された5枚組CDボックセットとなる。このアーカイヴは1963年故郷カナダ・サスカチュワン州サスカトゥーンにあったラジオ局CFQC29に出演したときに披露したアニマルズやボブ・ディランでお馴染みのアメリカン・トラッド・ソング「朝日のあたる家」でスタートする。ジョニ最初期の音源で彼女は19歳だった。続く6時間にも及ぶこのアーカイヴ VOL. 1には未公開ホーム・デモ、ライヴ音源、ラジオ出演時の音源など興味のつきない「財宝」がちりばめられていて、ジョニの類いまれな才能とその成長過程を垣間みることが出来る。29もの未発表の自作曲が含まれていることは特筆に値する。ブックレットは40ページに及び多くの未発表の写真と映画監督キャメロン・クロウ（『あの頃、ペニー・レインと』『バニラ・スカイ』）がジョニに直接取材し書き下ろした解説を収録している。

このボックスセットのアメリカでの発売は10月30日。日本盤は歌詞、解説の日本語訳が添付され11月25日にリリースされる。
