ウォーターボーイズ、スティーヴ・アール参加の新曲「Kansas」MV公開

ウォーターボーイズが、明日（4月4日）発売の新アルバム『Life, Death and Dennis Hopper』（1月20日MLCニュース）から、スティーヴ・アールをフィーチャーした新曲「Kansas」のミュージック・ビデオを公開しました。

このアルバムは、俳優の故デニス・ホッパーをテーマにしたコンセプト・アルバムで、リーダーのマイク・スコットは次のように語っていました。

「デニス・ホッパーの人生の軌跡は、我々の時代の物語でした。彼はジェイムズ・ディーンと共演した映画『Rebel Without a Cause』（邦題『理由なき反抗』）で若者文化のビッグバンに立ち会い、若き日のアンディ・ウォーホールとポップアートの始まりにも居合わせ、60年代のカウンターカルチャー、ヒッピー、公民権運動、サイケデリック・シーンの一部でした。70年代と80年代には、10年間にわたり荒れた生活を送って死にかけましたが、復帰して立ち直り、年に5本の映画に出演する個性派俳優になりました。彼は目の輝きや、彼を取り巻く危機感、予測不可能な感覚を失っていなかったのです。このレコードは、ホッパーの人生だけでなく、地球上で人間の魂が経験する奇妙な冒険についてもテーマになっています」

なお、アルバムにはスティーヴ・アールのほか、ブルース・スプリングスティーン（「Ten Years Gone」）、ドーズのテイラー・ゴールドスミス（「I Don’t Know How I Made It」3月14日MLCニュース）、フィオナ・アップル（「Letter From Unknown Girlfriend」3月26日MLCニュース）、シンガー／ソングライターのアナナ・ケイ、バーニー・フレッチャー、シュガーフット、ゴー・ゴーズのキャシー・ヴァレンタイン、パティ・パラディンらがゲスト参加しています。

またバンドは、9月4日に開幕する北米ツアーも発表し、米シンガー／ソングライターのアンナ・ティヴェルがオープニングを務める予定です（2公演を除く）。
