アメリカーナ・オナーズ＆アワーズのノミネーションが発表

5月14日に2019年度の「アメリカーナ・オナーズ＆アワーズ（Americana Honors & Awards）」のノミネーションが発表されました。アメリカーナとは〈アメリカの文化に深く根差した音楽〉の意味で使われ、実際米国ではここ最近も大きな市場を形成しています。

ノミネートされたアーティストらの名前を読み上げたのは、5月15日にナッシュヴィルで行われるバースデー・コンサート「Mavis & Friends: Celebrating 80 Years of Mavis Staples」（2月13日MLCニュース参照）のリハーサル中だったメイヴィス・ステイプルズ。

ステイプルズは、ブランディ・カーライルやリアノン・ギデンズ、ケイシー・マスグレイヴスらと共に今年の「最優秀アーティスト」にノミネートされており、このカテゴリーに女性だけがノミネートされたのは史上初。
