音楽番組『The Midnight Special』、70年代のチープ・トリック、グラディス・ナイト、スーパートランプらのライヴ映像公開

1972年～1983年に放送された米・音楽番組『The Midnight Special』のYouTubeチャンネルにて、チープ・トリックが1978年の番組で披露した「Surrender」、グラディス・ナイト＆ザ・ピップス1974年の「Midnight Train To Georgia」、スーパートランプ1979年の「Goodbye Stranger」などのパフォーマンス映像が公開されました。

チープ・トリックの「Surrender」は、1978年のアルバム『Heaven Tonight』からリリースされ、米ビルボードHot 100チャートにランクインしたバンド初のシングルです。同年の武道館公演を収録した初のライヴ・アルバム「Cheap Trick at Budokan」にもフィーチャーされており、日本でも大ヒットしました。

●Surrender - Cheap Trick | The Midnight Special

グラディス・ナイト＆ザ・ピップス1973年のアルバム『Imagination』に収録された「Midnight Train To Georgia」（邦題「夜汽車よ! ジョージアへ」）は、米ビルボードHot 100チャートで第1位に輝いたグループ初のシングル。1974年のグラミー賞「最優秀R&Bヴォーカル・パフォーマンス賞」を受賞し、グループの代表曲になりました。

スーパートランプ1979年のアルバム『Breakfast in America』に収録された「Goodbye Stranger」は、母国UKでは大ヒットしなかったものの、アメリカとカナダのシングル・チャートでは15位と6位にランクインしました。なお、アルバムは米ビルボード・チャートで6週にわたり第1位に輝き、バンド最大のヒット・アルバムになりました。
