ブラック・サバス、地元での『Back to the Beginning』公演にてバンドの歴史に幕

ブラック・サバス最後の公演『Back to the Beginning』が、現地時間7月5日に英バーミンガムのヴィラ・パークで開催され（2月6日、6月10日、19日MLCニュース）、サバスのオリジナル・ラインナップであるオジー・オズボーン、トニー・アイオミ、ギーザー・バトラー、ビル・ワードのほか、ガンズ・アンド・ローゼズ、メタリカ、トゥール、スレイヤー、パンテラ、ゴジラ、ヘイルストーム、アリス・イン・チェインズ、ラム・オブ・ゴッド、アンスラックス、マストドンをはじめとする多数の豪華ゲストが参加しました。

フィナーレを飾ったブラック・サバスは、オジーの「I Don’t Know」「Mr. Crowley」「Suicide Solution」「Mama, I’m Coming Home」「Crazy Train」に続き、「War Pigs」「N.I.B.」「Iron Man」「Paranoid」の4曲を披露しており、ゲストの目玉とされたガンズ・アンド・ローゼズとメタリカはオジーの直前に出演し、ガンズがサバスのカヴァー4曲「It’s Alright」「Never Say Die」「Junior’s Eyes」「Sabbath Bloody Sabbath」とオリジナルの2曲「Welcome to the Jungle」「Paradise City」を含めた全6曲、メタリカがサバスのカヴァー2曲「Hole in the Sky」「Johnny Blade」とオリジナルの4曲「Creeping Death」「For Whom the Bell Tolls」「Battery」「Master of Puppets」を含めた全6曲を披露しました。

また、スーパーグループのメンバーとして、スティーヴン・タイラー、ロニー・ウッド、サミー・ヘイガー、ビリー・コーガンらも出演しています。

ブラック・サバス、地元での『Back to the Beginning』公演にてバンドの歴史に幕。

英国時間2025年7月5日、バーミンガムにあるスタジアム、ヴィラ・パークにて、ヘヴィ・メタルの始祖でありシーンを牽引し続け来たバンドの歴史に幕が閉じられた。オジー・オズボーンとブラック・サバスのオリジナル・メンバーが、最後のパフォーマンス『Back To The Beginning：Ozzy’s Final Bow,』のために再結集したのだ。

チケット発売と同時にソールドアウトとなったこのイベントは、通常であればフェスのヘッドライナー級のバンドやメンバーたちが、ブラック・サバスのために世界中から集結して、それぞの代表曲とサバスやオジーの楽曲のカヴァーを披露（演奏されたセットリストは以下に掲載）。

全体で約10時間となった “黒い安息日” 祭典には、メタリカやガンズ・アンド・ローゼズ、スレイヤーといった当初予定されていたバンドはもちろん、途中には、俳優でもあるジャック・ブラックによるビデオ出演、英1位となったヤングブラッド、ザ・ローリング・ストーンズのロニー・ウッド、そしてエアロスミスのスティーヴン・タイラーの登場といった数々のサプライズも披露された。

予告なしのゲスト、感動的なトリビュート、そしてキャリアを網羅したセットリストをもって、オジー、そしてブラック・サバスの伝説における決定的な最終章となった。現在76歳のオジーは、過去に健康上の問題が幾度もあり、4度の脊椎手術だけではなく、2020年には自身がパーキンソン病であること、そして歩行が困難になっていることもを公表していたが、今回のイベントでは椅子に座りながらではあるが、故郷に集まったファンのミュージシャンたちからの声援を受け、その唯一無二の歌声を響かせていた。

世界中のファンは、今なおこの祝祭に参加することができる。Kisweとの提携により制作された独占ライブストリームは、終演後48時間、日本時間7月7日（月）23時までオンデマンドで視聴可能の予定となっている。

生配信を見逃した人も、もう一度体験したい人も、「壮大で感動的な、メタル創設者たちへのオールスターによる別れ」「メタル史における最も象徴的な夜」とメディアで称賛されているこのステージを目撃するチャンスとなっている。
