デイヴ・メイスン、新アルバムにジョー・ボナマッサやマイケル・マクドナルド参加

元トラフィックのデイヴ・メイスンが、3月21日に新アルバム『A Shade of Blues』をリリースすると発表しました。

このアルバムには、メイスンが2023年にジョー・ボナマッサとカヴァーした「Dear Mr. Fantasy」（トラフィック1967年のアルバム『Mr. Fantasy』収録）を含めた全11曲が収録されており、マイケル・マクドナルド、ウォーレン・ヒルズ、マイク・フィニガン（2021年8月16日MLCニュース）らも参加しています。

メイスンによると、自身のギター演奏は常にブルースから影響を受けているため、新アルバムもブルース・スタイルに傾倒しているものの、完全にそうではないため、『A Shade of Blues』と名付けたそうです。

なお、メイスンは昨年秋に心臓病の手術を受け、予定していた「Let It Flow」ツアーを中止しましたが、今年の3月から4月まで同ツアーを行なうと発表し、今年の夏には、カンサスと38スペシャルによるジョイント・ツアーの4公演に特別ゲストで出演する予定です。
